25 Pound Fender Weight Removal
The convertibles have an infamous 25 pound weight behind the passenger side headlight. It was originally installed to reduce cowl shake. I was able to remove the weight without any noticable shaking, your mileage may vary.
The weight can be removed from underneath the car – I happen to have my inner fender liner off so it made it that much easier.
There are three bolts that must be removed. The first two (10mm) I removed with a wrench. They are holding the rear facing bracket to the firewall.
You can see the two holes where the 10mm bolts used to be in this picture.
The third bolt is a 15mm bolt on the “front” of the weight. I removed it with a socket. Get something to support the weight when it drops, it is one heavy mofo….
